Our Story - P v Harrow LEA (September 2009)

"We are parents of a daughter who has just started secondary school education and we came to Douglas Silas Solicitors on the recommendation of an independent Education Psychologist who felt although we may have had a case, we stood very little chance of winning without the help of a specialist SEN solicitor like Douglas Silas.

Therefore, although we had already started the lengthy Tribunal process and had submitted our preliminary case to the Tribunal Service, we then went to see Douglas for an initial consultation.

After listening and talking things thoroughly through with Douglas we certainly realised our best chance of doing the very best for our child was to employ Douglas and his team.  Luckily he agreed to take our case on and we knew that however the outcome was to end we would always be able to look back and say that we did the very best for our daughter even if we were to lose. We also knew that whatever the result would be it would be whatever was meant to be.

Throughout our case we found Douglas to be totally professional, superbly pro-active, greatly understanding and extremely supportive and he kept us informed every step of the way.  We in turn totally trusted him and his recommendations and always knew he had our and our daughter’s best interests at heart and would do everything he possibly could to win our case.

Our case was a complicated case, because our LEA were not disputing that the school we were requesting could not meet our daughter’s needs only in the fact that the local LEA school could also meet all her needs and this is the area we disputed.

After a long drawn out two day full on Tribunal hearing, the decision finally arrived and we were extremely lucky and so grateful that the decision went our way.

Our daughter has now finally started her new secondary school and we look forward to a long and successful future for our daughter in this new school."
